While piloting mini-whiteboards to boost student engagement and check for understanding - using ideas from Craig Barton’s mini-books - Jorma took it a step further by designing and manufacturing custom pen and whiteboard holders for his students.

🏥HS Students interested in Orthopaedic Surgery and Engineering
The Perry Initiative inspires young people to be leaders in Orthopaedic Surgery and Engineering. High schoolers are invited to apply to participate in this free, one-day event on March 14, 2026 in Lebanon, OR.
Join The Dalles Library for a monthly Family FUN Night with a STEAM twist! On the second Thursday of each month, enjoy hands-on STEAM activities in the main library—plus a warm, STEAM-inspired drink for everyone.
Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to explore, build, and discover through hands-on, play-based STEAM activities. This joyful, sometimes messy program sparks curiosity, creativity, and confidence as young learners experiment with the world around them.
Columbia Gorge Community College has received unanimous board approval for its first-ever bachelor’s degree program. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Education, developed in partnership with a consortium of colleges, is expected to launch as early as Fall 2027 pending final approvals. This program will expand local access to four-year degrees, strengthen the regional teacher pipeline, and reflect CGCC’s commitment to workforce-connected education in the Gorge.
