🌟Educator Spotlight - Jorma Henson 🌟 

Jorma Henson, CTE Manufacturing Teacher at South Wasco High School, brings engineering thinking into every corner of his classroom. While piloting mini-whiteboards to boost student engagement and check for understanding - using ideas from Craig Barton’s mini-books - Jorma took it a step further by designing and manufacturing custom pen and whiteboard holders for his students.

🌟STEM Champion - GTA STEM Educator of the Year 

Danny Cosgrove has been named the 2025 Gorge Technology Alliance STEM Educator of the Year for his leadership at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, where he and his team expand STEM awareness through immersive, hands-on learning experiences across the Gorge.

Nominate an industry professional, local company, community organization, or individual who supports youth career exploration to be our next STEM Champion.

Join The Dalles Library for a monthly Family FUN Night with a STEAM twist! On the second Thursday of each month, enjoy hands-on STEAM activities in the main library—plus a warm, STEAM-inspired drink for everyone.

Oregon students, grades K-6, are invited to submit original artwork about Oregon agriculture for the contest.

👨‍💻CGCC’s First Bachelor’s Degree Approved

Columbia Gorge Community College has received unanimous board approval for its first-ever bachelor’s degree program. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Education, developed in partnership with a consortium of colleges, is expected to launch as early as Fall 2027 pending final approvals. This program will expand local access to four-year degrees, strengthen the regional teacher pipeline, and reflect CGCC’s commitment to workforce-connected education in the Gorge.
