⭐Educator Spotlight: Leah Ferguson⭐
Congratulations to Leah Ferguson, the recipient of the Oregon Association for Career and Technical Education’s New Teacher of the Year award! Since joining The Dalles High School as a Graphic Arts Teacher in 2022, Leah has made a remarkable impact, expanding the graphic arts program and creating a dynamic, hands-on learning environment. Her dedication to student success is evident both in the classroom and through her involvement in community events like the Haunted House and the design of the Cherry Fest poster. Leah’s commitment to fostering student growth and connecting them with real-world opportunities is truly inspiring, and her recognition is well-deserved. Congratulations, Leah!

The Safer Science Summit, happening this summer at George Fox University in Newberg, empowers teachers to improve lab safety practices by deepening their understanding of STEM safety regulations and protocols.
🔍Lending Library: Featured Item of the Month: 3D Doodlers
3D Doodlers are hand-held rechargable 3-D printers that include lesson plan ideas with content area connections; a set of 15 is available in May/June! Age focus: Elementary
Items are available for use at no-charge to educators across our 5-county region and include delivery to/from your school.
👨💻D-21 Classroom Mini-Grants: D21 Teachers, Staff or Employees May Apply!
The North Wasco County Education Foundation is accepting applications for Spring Classroom Mini-Grants, offering funding for innovative projects that enhance student learning. Whether for STEM activities, arts programs, or new resources, this is an opportunity to bring creative ideas to life.
🎨K-5: Arts, Care & Connection - Learning Module Library
K-5 Oregon Educators can access free, ready-to-use arts education online lessons, developed through a partnership with Arts for Learning NW (ALNW) and the Oregon Department of Education.
Career Tours are free, interactive, virtual field trips that inspire students to pursue careers of the future by exploring Amazon’s technologies. Tour whenever, wherever, on Kahoot!
🌳Oregon Agriculture In the Classroom: Agriculture in the Classroom is a nationwide educational program designed to help students develop an understanding that agriculture is the source of our food, clothing, shelter and other essentials. Explore just some of their great resources!
Beef and Cattle Workshop: K-12 Educators are invited to register for a 2-day immersive workshop on April 18-19 (sponsored by the Oregon Beef Council).
Calendar Contest: K-6 Educators can submit students' artwork featuring Oregon agriculture to this year's calendar art contest by 5/1 for a prize!

The Museum of Science, Boston’s Youth Engineering Solutions (YES) provides PK-8 STEM curricula with hands-on, real-world challenges, promoting equity and encouraging students to view themselves as engineers and problem solvers in a classroom or after-school setting.
🔬MS/HS: Resources for Genomics & DNA Day on April 25th
STEM Next is partnering with global genomics leader Illumina on the “Future is Bright” campaign to bring the power and wonder of DNA science to afterschool and summer programs nationwide.

Youth & Community Opportunities
🌋K-12 Students (Wasco): Logo Design Contest - Designs Due by March 31st
The city of Bend will host the 13th ‘Cities on Volcanoes’ international conference from July 12-17, 2026, bringing together experts to discuss volcanic eruption safety. K-12 students in Wasco County are invited to submit logo designs by March 31, 2025.
