📣Educator Spotlight - Highlighting Achievements of Local Educators

This month, we're honoring Sherman County School First Grade Teacher, Ashley Macnab and Dry Hollow Elementary Fifth Grade Teacher, Wesley Mitchell. Both educators received regional Teacher of the Year awards through the Oregon Department of Education in partnership with the Oregon Lottery!

Both educators are Elementary STEAM Leaders through the STEM Hub; STEAM Leaders earn up to 20 hours of professsional development and collaborate with other educators across the state to enhance their STEM lesson plannning and classroom curriculum.

💰Microgrant Applications - Applications Open November 1st!

The STEM Hub offers Gorge teachers, administrators, and out-of-school educators the chance to apply for microgrants each school year. Microgrants are designed to fund STEM projects and initiatives that will have a lasting impact on students in the Gorge. Applications will open November 1st! More details to follow!

🤖VEX Robotics Competitive Coach Meet Up Session - Thursday, Nov. 9th

VEX Robotics coaches are invited to attend an informal, virtual collaboration session. The second meet-up is scheduled for Thursday, November 9th from 7-8pm. Stipends can be provided to OR educators only.

🤖Gorge Tech Alliance-Sponsored Competitive Robotics Team Mini Grants

In collaboration with the Gorge Technology Alliance (GTA), the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub welcomes competitive robotics coaches (OR & WA) to apply for mini grants to support team-related expenses. 

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.

🌱Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom - New Seasonal Kits!

Explore seasonal, apple-themed kits for K-2nd Graders, 3rd-5th Graders, 6th-12th Graders! Agriculture in the Classroom is a nationwide educational program designed to help students develop an understanding of agriculture In Oregon; the program is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) foundation. 

📩Columbia Gorge ESD is Hiring: Director of People and Culture

This position will manage and coordinate Columbia Gorge Education Service District’s (CGESD) work in the areas of workplace culture and inclusion; employee well-being; continuous workforce improvement; Human Resources policies and compliance; staff training and professional development; and internal/external communications. The Director of People and Culture (DoPC) will work closely with the Superintendent, Fiscal Department, and CGESD Department Directors to provide strategic and operational leadership related to the previously mentioned areas of focus. The Director develops and maintains positive relations with all stakeholders including the ESD Board, CGESD staff, and the Columbia Gorge Community. Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
