MS Educators: Register for the Middle School Make-A-Thon!
The STEM Hub will be hosting an in-person Make-A-Thon on Friday, October 6th from 9am-1pm at the CGCC campus in The Dalles for 7th grade students across the Gorge. Students will participate in teams of 3-6 in a Rube Goldberg style event called a Rube-A-Thon! The event theme will be announced the day of the event!
Reserve your spot for one of our Lending Library Pop-Up Sessions! Enjoy refreshments, visit with colleagues, play with our Lending Library items and reserve some amazing STEM Kits for your classroom! PreK-12 educators (OR & WA) are welcome! Kids & family members are also welcome - stay for 10 minutes or play for the full 2 hours!
Gain a better understanding of the 3-Dimensional structure of our Science Standards with our Crash Course series! Each session has specific learning objectives and while the content is all connected to NGSS, each individual session focuses on just one element of NGSS. You can join any or all sessions depending on your schedule!
We're relaunching our Educator Spotlight series in which we highlight achievements of local educators.

Educators are welcome to join our networking and resource fair on Tuesday, October 10th! Learn about local resources avaliable to you and your students. Families are welcome and museum admission is FREE!

K-12 Educators: “Fostering a Sense of Belonging in your CS Classroom" PD
Register for an online, asynchronous 4-hour course offered this fall through the Computer Science Teachers Association. The course focuses on creating a welcoming classroom environment.
Teacher perks (OR educators only): $160 stipend, registration fees covered by the STEM Hub, and a course certificate upon completion of the course.
Course runs October 2nd - December 31st (at-your-own pace)
Gorge Tech Alliance-Sponsored Competitive Robotics Team Mini Grants
In collaboration with Gorge Technology Alliance (GTA), the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub welcomes competitive robotics coaches (OR & WA) to apply for mini grants to support team-related expenses.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
VEX Robotics Competitive Coach Meet Up Session - September 26th
VEX Robotics coaches are invited to attend an informal, virtual collaboration session. The first meet-up is scheduled for September 26th from 7-8pm. Stipends can be provided to OR educators only.

Interested in helping expand access to STEM Education in the Gorge?
PreK-12 educators and administrators are welcome to join us on Thursday, September 28th from 7-8 pm, to provide the Hub with guidance regarding our upcoming projects & initiatives!
The Oregon Department of Education is offering reoccuring Lunch & Learn virtual sessions from September-May on Career Awareness & Exploration and Work-Based Learning. Click the flyer to view dates & register for the series.
The Portland Metro STEM Partnership (PMSP) and Greater Oregon STEM Hub (GO STEM) will be holding professional learning opportunities for the High School Science for All, aka "Patterns" courses (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). Thanks to the WRAP (Well-Rounded Access Program) grant, participating Oregon high school science teachers are able to receive $50/hour to attend school year PD sessions.
Oregon Afterschool Fall Conference: November 4, 2023
Attend Oregon Ask's Oregon Afterschool Conference to experience in-person sessions on a variety of topics at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City.
MS/HS Educators: Your Place in Space Challenge - Submissions Due Oct. 30th
The "Your Place in Space Challege" is a CTE Momentum challenge, an annual challenge series of the U.S. Department of Education. This challenge helps prepare high school students for rewarding careers and increases their access to Career and Technical Education (CTE). This year's challenge--Your Place in Space--invites entries that demonstrate a product or service that will contribute to space missions and exploration.
Attend this FREE, in-person event specifically tailored for parents with elementary to middle school-aged kids. At "Creating a Tech-Healthy Family," Andrea Davis, the founder of Better Screen Time, will be diving into topics, including:
📝 Setting healthy tech boundaries and guidelines that work for your family. 📵 Exploring how to introduce technology to your kids gradually & mindfully. 🚫 Empoweering children to make responsible choices in the digital world.

Middle School: Robotics and Garden Clubs - Registration is Now Open!
Registration is now open for two after school clubs at The Dalles Middle School. Clubs meet after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Robotics: Mondays 2:55-5:00 pm, Wednesdays 1:30-4:30 pm beginning September 18th
Garden Club: Thursdays 2:55-4:30 pm beginning September 21st
